The Hotel Marketing Association has been in existence for nearly 40 years and is the official hotel industry branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
One of the key objectives of the HMA is to promote good marketing practice in the hotel industry. It’s coveted Hotel Marketing Awards, now in their 19th year, are judged by respected industry professionals and given to individual hotels or chains, or support agencies judged to have provided the best examples of hotel marketing in their field
Each year the HMA also announces its Young Marketer of the Year Award, which is given to an outstanding candidate aged under 30. Each of the awards is presented in a ceremony and luncheon at London's Savoy Hotel attended by senior figures in the hospitality industry in December. Several thousand pounds is also raised at this event for a nominated charity.
The HMA holds regular meetings and workshops throughout the year about current topics and issues facing the industry today and carries out regular research studies.
The HMA is supported by many major hotel groups including Hilton, Intercontinental Hotels, Radisson Edwardian, Millennium and Red Carnation. The HMA is also supported by BDRC Continental, TRI Hospitality Consulting and Oxford Brookes University.
The current Chairman of the HMA is Linda Moore, formerly PR Director of Hilton in the UK and Head of Communications for Marriott Hotels in the UK. The Vice Chairman is Ed Purnell Area Director of Marketing for Intercontinental Hotels in London.
