RM Debate to examine how revenue managers can collate information streams

HOSPACE 2013 Revenue Management Debate to examine how hospitality revenue managers can collate information streams into a cohesive picture

HOSPACE 2013 – HOSPA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition for Hospitality Finance, Revenue Management, IT and Commercial Professionals – to be held on 21 November at the Sofitel London Heathrow, Terminal 5

As Revenue Management becomes an increasingly established force in the hospitality industry alongside the rapid development in communications technology and social media, a panel of top experts at HOSPACE 2013 will be looking at how revenue managers can collate all their information streams into a cohesive picture. They will also examine how smaller hospitality companies can sometimes adapt and move quicker in this respect, without the issue of older legacy systems to slow them down.

Next week, under the expert chairmanship of Lawrence Hunt – Chief Operating Officer, Lowcosttravelgroup, which provides consumers and travel agents with ‘value for money’ travel choices – a leading panel of hospitality revenue management practitioners and experts will debate: ‘Integrating all the feeds for Revenue Management’. The panellists will be: Brian Hicks, Vice President Revenue Management, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG); Howard Langer, Global Capability Managing Director - Pricing and Promotions, dunnhumby, one of the world’s leading customer science companies; former EAME Director of IDeaS Ulrich Pillau - Managing Director, hetras GmbH, provider of an open cloud based multi-property platform designed especially for ‘new generation’ hoteliers; and Monique Jaspers-Wijn, Global Head of Partner Marketing, Travelport – a leading distribution services and ecommerce provider for the global travel industry.

Commenting on the HOSPACE 2013 Revenue Management discussion, Warren Mandelbaum, Chair of HOSPA’s Revenue Management Community Committee, said: “Rapid developments in technology and its ever increasing use has changed how consumers buy and how hospitality owners and managers operate. With the adoption of revenue management and its ever growing acceptance by the public and industry alike, pricing is now established by market intelligence so it’s crucial to know what your competitors are charging at any particular moment, and to understand how to collate all your information streams – ranging from traditional online travel agents (OTAs) and social media to mobile channels and global distribution systems – into a cohesive and highly workable picture.

“Our distinguished line-up of panellists will be debating how this can be achieved, as well as taking a close look at legacy systems. Many of the larger hospitality organisations have had revenue management systems in place for a number of years which may well have become outdated in the wake of technological advances and ever more sophisticated and widespread consumer IT usage. The panel, therefore, will debate whether smaller hospitality companies can sometimes adapt and move quicker in this respect, without the issue of older legacy systems to slow them down.”

The Revenue Management Debate will kick-start the afternoon sessions at HOSPACE 2013 –– the most prestigious gathering of like-minded hospitality practitioners in the UK – which is to be held on Thursday, 21 November at the Sofitel London Heathrow, Terminal 5.

In addition to the Revenue Management Debate, other highlights of HOSPACE 2013 – designed for Hospitality Finance, Revenue Management, IT and Commercial Professionals – include: a scene-setting ‘Leaders Panel’ discussion by hospitality captains of industry on ‘Key issues, trends and developments facing the industry today’; a top-level Finance Panel discussion on ‘The changing face of the funding landscape for the hospitality sector’; and a thought provoking Hospitality IT Debate on ‘Is Technology good for the hotel/hospitality business?’. Delegates also will be able to benefit from HOSPACE’s popular, highly topical programme of hospitality industry specific educational workshops – all led by top specialists in their subjects.

As in past years, HOSPACE will be supported by a growing and increasingly influential exhibition of hospitality technology solutions – providing delegates with a ‘one stop shop’ to view and interact with the latest and ‘best in class’ technologies – covering all eventualities for any hospitality business, whether they be start-up, established independent, or multi chain-owned, operations.
